Louisville, KY · Installation & aftercare

Good installation.
Clear aftercare.

For your Louisville home, compare the people and promises behind the product—from measurement and handover to a future service visit.

Before you order

Confirm the seller, installer and service business by name. Give the full service address and make sure the proposal covers the whole route you need. If you rent or share the staircase, establish permissions before ordering. Ask the installer to identify any applicable requirements and site work for your situation.

Measurement and route approval

Have the assessor show rail ends, chair parking, boarding space and door clearances. Review any custom drawing before approval. Keep the exact model and powered features on the order, along with what happens if measurements or site conditions require a change.

Installation day is not the same as order lead time

A fitting visit may be shorter than the total wait for equipment. Stock, a custom rail, preparation work and appointment scheduling can affect when installation takes place. Ask the provider to distinguish these stages and give written expectations for your home.

Before you sign off the handover

  • Practice normal use, the belt, swivel and folding parts with the installer.
  • Understand where the chair charges and what normal indicators mean.
  • Receive the correct user instructions and maintenance schedule.
  • Keep the model details and a working service contact.
  • Ask how to report a fault and what to do according to the user manual.

Compare warranty coverage with the visit costs

Ask about components, batteries, labor, travel and call-out charges separately. A long component warranty is not automatically free servicing. Get the normal service hours, any out-of-hours arrangements and the maintenance schedule in writing. Do not assume a national brand means immediate attendance at your address.

Plan for later changes

Ask what happens if your needs change, the lift needs removal or you move home. Custom rails are made for a specific route; do not count on resale or reuse without a written assessment. Clarify collection, removal and reinstatement costs before committing.

Before a Louisville-area assessment

For a Louisville assessment, describe the whole route: the doorway near the first step, every turn, and the space where you would get off upstairs. If the route is outside, have the assessor check the entrance and door swing as well as the steps. Service in southern Indiana is a separate coverage question, not something to assume from a Louisville listing.
